Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much

Hellen Keller

Let's talk about cocrafting studio

Let's talk about CoCrafting Studio.  A virtual coworking space for crafters! Join us for accountability and even some fun while making!

A Virtual Coworking Space for Crafters

  • How many times have you put off working on your craft because it’s ‘just a hobby’?
  • How many times have you started working on your items and then, the laundry buzzer goes off?
  • How many times have you said that "You'll get to it later", only to not come back to it?

Do you schedule your making time?

It is proven that scheduling your tasks, not just making a to-do list, is the way to make sure the they are accomplished. But...this is a hobby right? Well, that up to you do decide.  If this "hobby" is indeed a business, then it's time to start treating it like one.

There is a reason you find people working at your local coffee shop

Coworking spaces are very successful for a reason, and that reason is the same reason that you went to study hall when you were in school.  Solopreneurs especially love coworking spaces since they are a big step up from the local coffee shop.  Being around people that are focused on work also helps you focus.

.

It’s work time.  It's work energy happening. Cities have coworking spaces where people could “go to the office” because working from home isn’t really working out for them and it would be too expensive to rent a full studio for their one-person operation.

But...how many crafting solopreneurs do you think that you'll find at the local coffee shop or the big city coworking space? Not many.  Crafters don't just grab a computer and sit at the local park on a sunny day.  We have taken over our family's dining room, garage, spare bedrooms or any other place we could use.

Accountability

During this new age of remote work, it  makes sense to meet virtually.  Scheduled things get done. It's time to schedule your crafting time.

But let’s be honest, just because it’s scheduled doesn’t mean that you're going to do it.  Life happens right?

That is, unless someone is waiting for you.

I rarely miss scheduled meetings that are on my calendar especially if they are virtual meetings.  Those are easy and I don't want to disappoint whoever is expecting me!

Scheduled work time along with someone to work along side with is a great productivity formula.

Why Virtual CoCrafting Works

Well, during this new age of remote work, it  makes sense to meet virtually.  Scheduled things get done.  It's time to schedule your crafting time.

  • You don't have to waste time by driving to a location.
  • You can work from any space that you are currently working from.
  • You won't break your creative flow by packing up your supplies.
  • Your creations won't be damaged by being packed up and relocated for work.
  • You usually don't have to "set up" to get started.

A bit about me...

I'm Liliana, owner of Event Craft Studio Seasonal Wreaths and Holiday Decor.  Like many, I have taken my creative outlet and made it my business.  However, working for myself turned out to be much harder than I anticipated because as a solopreneur, I only had myself to respond to.

~

It was a hard truth to face but I finally had to admit it...

~I miss the corporate schedule~

(It gave me structure. It gave me accountability.)

~I miss meetings~

(They gave me deadlines. I saw people!)

~

I found myself scheduling Zoom meetings and joining webinars  just to help me have a sense of scheduled time and accomplishment. (Luckily they were always productive.)

My background as a corporate trainer already encouraged me start monthly live Zoom trainings but what about everyday work?

Then it hit me, I can't be the only crafter going through this!

And so it begins, CoCrafting Studio, a virtual accountability workspace for crafters.

You'll have dedicated time for creating.

You can use any device that has internet to join.

This is just the beginning!

I can't wait to see how much our productivity increases!

A few points and FAQs

What this is:

  • A monthly subscription for two hours of scheduled work time, two days per week.
  • An accountability space that you can work from any space that you are currently working from.
  • A way to not break your creative flow by packing up your supplies and moving to a coworking space.
  • A way to keep your creations safe since they won't be damaged by being packed up and relocated for a drive to a workspace.

What this isn't:

  • A virtual office water cooler. This is focused work time. Please be respectful of others' work time.
  • A design advice space. We understand that designing is a process however your accountability partner may be ready to work on their tasks. Please save your questions.
  • Please note: We're adults! If you and your session buddies have a good rapport, chat away! Feel it out!

FAQs

  • How do we meet for coworking? We will be meeting via Zoom.
  • Do you get to pick who you work with? No. Virtual room assignments are random.
  • How many people are in the virtual room? The goal is to eventually have three people per room.  However, since we are just getting started we will all meet in the same room.
  • Can I schedule more than two hours? At the moment we are only scheduling two hour sessions, twice per week. Stay tuned because more times will be added as we grow!

Think you don't need this?

Let's figure it out

  • Do you stick to the same times for making?
  • When was the last time that you finished a project?
  • When was the last time you worked on a project?
  • When was the last time that you didn't get distracted by household chores?
  • When was the last time you realized you were more dedicated to your job than to your craft?

If some of these questions made you cringe, then it may be time to start scheduling your times. Even better, why not join us and have some accountability with your scheduled time?

Hope to see you at the next scheduled CoCrafting Session!
